The Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said in the coming 10 years, Russia will expand its electricity export to China by 10 times,

By 2015, Russia electricity export to China will likely reach 30 to 40 billion kilowatt-hours.

Zhukov said China and Russia have witnessed great progress in energy cooperation. Russia hopes to expand export of electricity to China. To meet this goal, Russia's electricity companies are pressing ahead with constructing power plants and power grids.

Zhukov said: "In the coming ten years, Russia will expand export of electricity to China by 10 fold. We hope to reach 30 to 40 kilowatt-hours by 2015."

The export will mainly be transmitted to China's northeastern provinces where electricity supply is relatively tight.

Zhukov also expressed optimism on the ongoing construction of Taishet-Nakhodka project.

Zhukov said: "We've encountered very little difficulty with the project.... China and Russia are proceeding with normal technical and economical negotiation. It's going on smoothly."

The 4,200 kilometers long Taishet-Nakhodka oil pipeline extends from Eastern Siberia to Nakhodka. Its first phase in China will be completed in 2008 as expected. After that, crude oil funneled to China will reach 30 million tonnes annually.
