As the national economy matures, culture-related businesses have grown into a booming industry. And a trade show, called The International Cultural Industry Fair, has emerged naturally. The second annual fair started Thursday, in South China's Shenzhen city.
Officials from cultural and media fields ran the opening ceremony, at the Shenzhen Convention Center. This is the country's only world class event for exhibiting and trading cultural products. It's also an opportunity for the industry elite to exchange ideas and experiences.
This year's fair has the dual theme of "creation and technology". The main exhibit hall covers an area of 100,000 square meters. It is divided into nine display areas, such as the media science room, the video game area, and the industrial arts section. More than 30 Chinese provinces and cities are represented. And 26 international booths have the best new offerings from overseas.
Henan province took the largest space at the event. One of their exhibits is a 600-kilogram book, billed as the world's heaviest. It introduces the excavation and preservation of the Simuwu quadripod, the world's biggest bronze antique, from Anyang city in Henan. The hall of Yunnan has put up a giant video screen, to show the province's diverse cultures and striking natural beauty.
Six branch venues, such as Dafen Oil Painting Village and Yijing Cartoon Base, have prepared displays both lavish and educational.
The four-day event also features forums, speeches, and auctions.
