Lhasa citizens spend 55.24 mln yuan during National Day holiday

  BEIJING, Oct. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- Citizens in Tibet‘s capital of Lhasa spent at least 55.24 million yuan RMB (8.09 million U.S. dollars) during the National Day holiday from Oct. 1 to 8, up 7.3 percent from the same period last year, according to Tibet Business.

  The money was spent primarily on gifts, clothes, daily necessities, and household electric appliances. A staff worker of the Lhasa City Bureau of Commerce said that exceptionally popular items were senergy-efficient air conditioners, refrigerators and large screen TV sets were. Cars, garments, shoes and hats sold well, too.

  During the eight-day holiday, the total sales of nine major department stores hit 45.88 million yuan, and those of eight hotels and restaurants reached 1.92 million yuan. A total of 54 cars were sold at four automobile dealerships at 5.96 million yuan.
