Shannan to promote local tourism during National Day holiday

  BEIJING, Sep. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Shannan Prefecture, southeast Tibet, will promote its tourism by various means during the National Day holiday starting from Oct. 1, according to Qiu Lin, director of the Shannan Prefectural Tourism Bureau.

  Qiu said during the eight-day holiday, some scenic spots will cut their ticket prices and even open for free, and some hotels will also offer lodging discounts.

  On Sep. 27, the World Tourism Day, the bureau will launch a series of promotion activities to enable more people to learn more about Shannan‘s tourism and be more involved in it.

  The Samya Monastery will open to tourists for free from Oct. 1 to 3. From Oct. 1 to 7, two visitors will be able to share one ticket to visit the Yumbulakang Palace and Trundruk Monastery. Visiting the Tomb of the Tibetan King will be free of charge from Oct. 1 to 4.

  Tourist groups staying at star-rated hotels will enjoy a 20 percent discount during the holidays.
