Climbing team ready to conquer Mt. Chitzi

　　BEIJING, Aug. 4 -- A climbing team named "One Polar" from Renmin University of China has left Beijing for Tibet to climb Mt. Chitzi in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

　　The team, which belongs to Renmin University‘s "Free Men Association", was set up in 2002 and has ascended Mt. Hapori (5,396 meters), Mt. Kaila Tandong (6,621 meters), Markalu Peak (6,647 meters) and other 10 mountains.

　　The team leader Geng Zhaochao said: "We started preparations for the activity last October. All the members were strictly selected after a series of winter, technical and physical training sessions."

　　The team planned to set up the base camp at Galuo Temple, 4,800 meters above sea level. If the climbing goes smoothly, the climbers are expected to conquer the peak in early August and leave the base camp on August 17.
