Special Report: Tech MaxBANGKOK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- There was no swine flu case in Thailand, while the thermal scanners installed at international airports had not discovered any foreign tourist arrivals had the swine flu, Witthaya Kaewparadai, Minister of Public Health said Tuesday.
However, the Thai Public Health Ministry would continue to closely monitor the situation, Witthaya said.
Also, he had suggested Thai, who suspected that he or she might have had the swine flu after contacting with people traveling from the risky countries to report himself or herself to medical officials immediately.
It would take only four hours in a Thai medical laboratory to examine and confirm the swine flu, Witthaya said.
Witthaya said he would call a meeting with involved authorities Tuesday to discuss about an alert level in Thailand after the World Health Organization (WHO) Monday raised its pandemic alert level from Phase 3 to Phase 4, warning of a significant increase in the risk of a pandemic.
Thailand's government from Monday has ordered installation of thermal scanners at the country's three international airports, including of Suvarnabhumi International Airport in capital Bangkok as a preventive measure against the potential spread of swine flu.
