VIENNA, March 27 (Xinhua) -- After five rounds of voting in closed session here, leading candidate Yukiya Amano of Japan on Friday failed to gain enough votes to be elected as the next leader of IAEA.

Yukiya Amano obtained at the latest round of balloting 22 votes, which means he did not win the required two thirds majority with at least 24 votes in 35-member Board.

According to the agenda, it will be another round of voting for Abdul Samad Minty of South Africa.

In the first three rounds on Thursday, the votes of Yukiya Amano were 21, 20 and 20, while Abdul Samad Minty 14, 15 and 15.
