The Beijing Pavilion is the only one that can change its appearance thanks to a variety of high technologies. Xu Yuwei, vice director of the Beijing Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and director of the Beijing Pavilion's Coordination Office who is in charge of the exhibition, said that despite these high technologies, the Beijing Pavilion does not cost too much compared with other pavilions in the country. Detailed figures are still being calculated.

Liu Zhi, standing vice director of the Beijing Pavilion's Coordination Office, said that the pavilion features a major theme that runs through Beijing's past, present and future. The exhibition area in the front will present a TV wall showing the old hutongs, time-honored brands as well as the old TVs from different eras; the central exhibition area will review the brilliant moments during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 60th Anniversary celebrations through the world- and China-leading high-tech products; using the Beijing image wall and other cultural elements, the exhibition area in the rear will unveil the blueprint for Beijing's ambition to be a global city.
