On January 20, the Japanese Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 held a press conference at the Shanghai World Expo Coordination Bureau. A publicity video in which Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama delivered a speech and more than 40 new high technologies to be showcased at the pavilion were unveiled for the first time.

After the press conference started, a special video in celebration of the 100-day countdown to the Shanghai World Expo 2010 was shown, in which Hatoyama expressed his greetings to the expo.

Later, Hirofumi Katase, Deputy Director-General, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and director of Japanese Pavilion, introduced the exhibits to be showcased at the Japanese Pavilion in detail.

A vivid scene, like a moving picture scroll, will be unfolded before visitors at the first exhibition zone. With the era of the Japanese envoys (Kento-shi) during the Tang Dynasty as the focus, the exhibition zone will introduce how culture brought from China to Japan evolved, developed and continued to be present.
