Reporters learned from the Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) that the construction of the World Expo Center, a permanent large public building and one of the four pavilions along the central axis at the Shanghai World Expo site, was completed on December 25. The center is China's sole green and low-carbon large public building constructed according to China's three-star standards and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system from the U.S.

Solving the energy-conservation and emissions-reduction problems
The World Expo Center is located within riverside green areas of Zone B on the World Expo site, with the World Expo Boulevard on its south side and the Expo Axis on its east side. It covers an area of 6.65 hectares and has an overall building area of 142,000 square meters, including 100,000 square meters on the ground and 42,000 underground.
