To ensure heating supply, all personnel at the Beijing Heating Supply Office (BHSO) continued working in various districts and counties as late as 8:00pm. "It was freezing when we were making random checks," said a senior officer at the BHSO. The BHSO has been carrying out emergency coordination for some areas without heating supply.
As of the evening of November 9, the 4,591 boiler houses in the capital were all in operation, supplying heating to a total area of 600 million square meters. Heating supply is available to nearly the entire city. An officer at the BHSO said that less than one percent of areas do not have access to heating supply due to heating bill collection issues, non-completion of heating supply projects and other reasons. "To urge relevant enterprises to resolve these issues, enterprises which have postponed heating supply due to non-completion of heating supply projects, incidents and other reasons, are required to work around the clock to complete the projects. We ask for the understanding of residents who do not yet have access to heating supply," said Guo Weixi, director of the BHSO.
