The latest U.S.-sponsored Middle East Conference, the first in seven years and designed to promote peace negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis, will be open in Annapolis, Maryland on Tuesday.

This conference will commence negotiations on the establishment of a Palestinian state and the realization of peace between two peoples.

Nearly 50 countries and organizations will participate in the conference in hopes of resuming the stalled Mideast peace process.

For the first time in 16 years, Arab League ministers will join the conference hoping to promote the creation of a Palestinian state.

The Annapolis meeting is the first to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict when the Middle East peace process has been stalled for more than six years.

The conference will be anchored around a marathon session on Tuesday at the Naval Academy and will be opened by US President George W. Bush.
