During the festival, organizers will launch five events with the themes of “visit the city of the emperors and experience the traditions and customs of Beijing,” “fine dining in the ancient capital, enjoy the beautiful scenery of Beijing,” “shop at department stores, enjoy happy surprises,” “stay in courtyard houses to relive old Beijing,” and “promote online tourism through the former residences of celebrities.” Various activities such as the “Shicha Lake cocktail contest,” “famous chefs come to communities,” “elegant snacks on sale,” and a “calligraphy and painting exhibition” will also be held in between these five events. Residents are invited to attend and participate.
Liu Jun, vice director general of Xicheng District Tourist Bureau, said that this tourism festival is jointly organized by Xicheng District and seven other suburban districts and counties, including Miyun, Changping, Fangshan and Huairou. It will break the boundaries of regions and industries and will launch a series of activities to boost consumption and promote tourism. It aims to help urban and rural areas interact and integrate commerce and tourism. Liu added, “As long as residents spend in restaurants and shopping centers, they will be able to acquire vouchers or discount coupons, including restaurant coupons, movie coupons and discounted tickets to scenic spots. There are 500,000 vouchers and coupons in total, worth 14 million yuan.” On the morning of August 2, the organizers distributed some of the discounted entrance tickets at the south gate of Beihai Park, and a lot of residents flocked to receive them. About 10,000 discounted tickets for scenic spots in the suburbs of Beijing had already been distributed that morning.
