Long traffic queues disappear around Gongzhufen Bus Station

2009-07-29 17:52 BJT

With more than 20 bus routes passing through it, Gongzhufen North Station is overwhelmed during rush hour. July 27 was the first working day without six of these routes, not only eradicating the long traffic queues, but also making it more convenient for passengers to transfer to the subway.

In order to ease the traffic overburdening Gongzhufen North Station, six lines including lines 394, 437, 624, 809, 631 express, and 658 will not stop in either direction at Gongzhufen North Station under the Bus Line Optimization Scheme. Lines 394 and 437 will no longer stop at Gongzhufen North Station but will move south to the Gongzhufen Station on the service road of Gongzhufen Roundabout. Lines 728 and 308 will no longer stop at Gongzhufen East Station and Xifulu Station, and will move to a new Gongzhufen Station on Fuxing Lu main road.

During peak hours on July 27, the pressure relieved around the station was clearly visible at the Gongzhufen Roundabout. Vehicles traveled smoothly, without long queues and challenges from other traffic. A traffic warden said that lines 394, 437, 624, 809, 658 and 631 express had cancelled their stops at Gongzhufen North Station, which had eased public traffic congestion.
