Olympic Sports Center to launch Uni-card service

2009-07-27 17:23 BJT

From August 8, citizens who exercise at the Olympic Sports Center can participate in all activities, including fitness, recreation, entertainment and food and beverage services all with one card. Yesterday, the Olympic Sports Center launched the "Health Uni-card" service in China’s stadiums. It will implement the trial operation of a digital management system. Cardholders can enjoy membership prices at all appointed stadiums in the Olympic park.

Minimum prepaid amount for an annual card will be 1000 yuan

The National Olympic Sports Center (hereafter referred to as the Olympic Center) is located in the middle section of the north Fourth Ring Road, opposite to the National Stadium ("the Bird's Nest”) on the other side of the north Fourth Ring Road. The park occupies 64 hectares, and has 7 stadiums including the Yingdong Natatorium, Hockey Stadium, Tennis Court and gymnasium, which hosted events such as Beijing Olympic water polo match and the modern-pentathlon.

Yesterday, Geng Baoquan, deputy director of the Olympic Sports Center, announced that the Olympic Sports Center has been open to the public since the Olympic Games. 7 stadiums have carried out activities including swimming, badminton, tennis, fencing and other sports. This is the first time that the Olympic Sports Center will launch the "Health Uni-card" service. Residents can enjoy fitness activities, massages, food and accommodation in the center with one card.

According to sources, the Uni-card services will be divided into four categories based on the value and validity period. For the annual card, the minimum prepaid amount is 1000 yuan. The cardholder can enjoy membership prices at 7 stadiums. For example, the original price for a badminton ticket is 50 yuan/hour, but the membership price is 40 yuan/hour. This will prevent cardholders from having to use 7 separate cards to receive membership prices at 7 locations.

The cards can be bought at any stadium

Geng said that cards are being sold in advance to the public and can be purchased at any Olympic Center venue. They will come into effect on August 8. Sales of the card will spread to other venues such as shopping malls, shopping centers and sports stores while on trial at the Olympic Sports Center.

Geng also said that based on the business plan created at the beginning of the year, 100 million yuan in earnings are expected. So far, 50 million yuan has been made.

Furthermore, soldiers on active duty and retired veterans will be able to visit the Bird’s Nest for free showing their officer cards, clerk cards, soldier cards, or retirement cards on August 1.
