Parks in Chaoyang District to open free on National Day

In order to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, Chaoyang District will hold 240 cultural activities for residents, and all parks in Chaoyang District will open free of charge. Reporters learned this from the Chaoyang District preparation and mobilization meeting for the National Day celebrations on July 4.

Beijing Olympic Park will hold a garden party

All parks in Chaoyang District will open free, including parks which usually charge an admission fee, such as China Nationalities Museum and Chaoyang Park, said officials from Chaoyang District. Key district parks such as Xinglong Park and Tuanjiehu Park will be specially decorated for the National Day celebrations. A further nine parks, including Yuandadu Park, Ritan Park, Honglingjin Park, Side Park, Beixiaohe Park, China Nationalities Museum, Taiyanggong Park and Jingchengliyuan Park will also create a beautiful environment with green leaves and boughs as well as blossoming flowers.

The new Beijing scenic spot, Beijing Olympic Park, will also open free on National Day. The park will hold a series of performances on October 2 and 3, while the garden party will begin on October 4. Residents and tourists can visit normally, according an official from Beijing Olympic Park management committee.

90 old communities in Chaoyang District will be renovated

In addition, Chaoyang District will hold other activities such as a 1,000-people pen pal meeting for the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, a 2009 Chaoyang District amateur Beijing Opera contest and a photo competition. Chaoyang District will improve its environment and 90 old communities in the district will be renovated.
