Usain Bolt, Jamaica

Jamaican Usain Bolt has become the brightest star of the "Bird´s Nest". He´s set the world and Olympic records in both the 100 meters and 200 meters, with times of 9.69 seconds and 19.30 seconds.

Isinbaeva, Russia

Pole vault tsarina Elena Isinbaeva cleared the new world record of 5.05 meters, winning her second Olympic gold medal almost with no efforts.

No Losers Here

They are great athletes, but for whatever reason, fall a bit short at the Games.

Liu Xiang, China

Liu Xiang pulled out of the 110m hurdles qualifying heats after aggravating a tendon injury in his right foot. His exit from the games dashes China´s greatest hope of winning gold in Olympic track.

Emmons, U.S.

American Matthew Emmons shot a disastrous final round in the men´s 50-metre rifle three positions competition Sunday to hand Olympic gold to China´s Qiu Jian.

Paula Radcliffe, U.K.

For Paula, it´s also difficult to see her contending for an Olympic title again despite her stated ambition to compete in 2012.
