The global financial crisis continues to cast a shadow over the traditionally glitzy Cannes Film Festival and its Film Trade Fair. But Chinese film makers are considering it an opportunity to tap into the world market.

The Film Trade Fair has lost some of its former vigor due to the financial downturn. The numbers of both the exhibitors and buyers have declined from last year.

But Chinese film makers are using this as an opportunity to enlarge their presence at this event. The Overseas Promotion Center of Chinese Film has brought a crop of new productions from the Chinese mainland, including China's first 3-D animation film. And the General Manager of the Center says sales have been going well so far.

This year marks the hundredth anniversary of Hong Kong's film industry. Fifteen Hong Kong film production companies are in Cannes, to showcase their latest films.

Hong Kong director Jingle Ma together with actress Zhao Wei and actor Chen Kun will meet the local press during the Cannes Festival to promote their new movie "Hua Mulan".
