The national self-discipline committee for helping juveniles prevent and give up Internet addiction was established in Beijing today. More than 20 training institutions for the prevention and fighting of Internet addiction from across the country, including Liu Xiaobing Education & Training Studio, Shandong Internet Addiction Disorder Rehabilitation Center, joined this committee and began to participate in the “Green Online” program.
A large number of schools, clinics and psychological counseling institutions have emerged across the country to help juveniles fight against the Internet addiction. This has caused many problems which have drawn the society’s attention, such as a lack of unified charging standards and the juvenile maltreatment.
Liu Hao, secretary of the national committee for helping juveniles prevent and give up the Internet addiction and enhance self-discipline, believes that the establishment of the committee will help direct and supervise the emerging industry of helping juveniles give up their addiction to the Internet, formalize the self-management of training institutions, define the boundary between discipline and maltreatment, and improve the research and investigation into methods of giving up the Internet addiction. Members of the committee will cooperate and take part in exchanges to share their resources.
Reporters learned that this self-discipline committee will cooperate with relevant organizers in selecting 100 Internet-addicted juveniles from impoverished families in ten cities around the country for psychological treatment. It will also assemble top experts from across the country to offer all-around help to juveniles and families affected by Internet addiction.
