The captain of Austria, Andreas Ivanschitz has worn the armband proudly throughout the run-up to UEFA EURO 2008™. A creative left-footer with fine technique and a thumping shot, he has been a regular for his country since 2003 but is still only 24.

Made his full debut for SK Rapid Wien aged 16 but not a fixture in team until Josef Hickersberger became coach in 2002/03.

First international goal in UEFA EURO 2004™ qualifier v Czech Republic; second in opening 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifier against England to give Austria 2-2 draw after being two goals down.
