Thierry Henry overtook UEFA President Michel Platini as France's record goalscorer during the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying campaign. Now 30, the swift, skilful striker will be hoping to carry on the good work for Les Bleus after a first season in Spain with FC Barcelona.

Made his France debut in a friendly against South Africa and scored his first senior goal against the same opposition eight months later – at the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

Was his country's top scorer at the 1998 World Cup, with three goals, but did not appear in the final against Brazil.

France's top scorer again, likewise with three goals, at UEFA EURO 2000™, where he featured prominently despite playing only 23 minutes of the qualifying campaign.

Star man at the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup, scoring four goals, including the extra-time winner in the final against Cameroon.

Broke Platini's record when he scored his 42nd international goal in the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier at home to Lithuania on October 17, 2007. A minute later he scored goal number 43.
