A European Commission spokeswoman said Friday this decision is very much in China's interest in that it will help China grow in a much more balanced and sustainable manner.

And in the mid-term, the move will increase Renminbi's flexibility.

EU trade commissioner Peter Mandelson also welcomed the move announced by China, saying it is a sign that it is assuming greater international responsibility.

Meanwhile, major world economies including the United States, Japan, Germany and etc. have expressed their applauses over the yuan appreciation.
