From 2001 to 2005, China's space program has developed rapidly. Having already put a man in space, the country now has its sights set on a omprehensive lunar exploration project. Li Ying takes a closer look at the country's achievments so far, and the plan for the future.

China on Thursday published a white paper on its space program.
The white paper, titled "China's Space Activities in 2006", is the second of its kind since 2000.
2006 marks the fiftieth year of China's road to develop its space industry.
The white paper introduces the aims and principles of China's space development, progress made in the past five years, development targets and major tasks for the next five years, development policies and measures and international exchanges and cooperation.
The governmnet stressed that the peaceful use of the technology.
Sun Laiyan, director of China national space administration said, “The country upheld that the exploration and utilization of outer space should be for peaceful purposes, promote human civilization and social progress, and benefit the whole of mankind.
China is the third country in the world to develop manned space-flight independently. Shenzhou VI launched last year completed a five-day flight with two astronauts on board. It's the first time for China to have men engage in experiments in space, another major achievement in the sphere of manned space-flight.
In the near future, manned space mission still tops China's priority in space activities.
Sun also said, “In all aspects of the space tech, China will mainly pay attention to five aspects. Manned space mission,to realize lunar-orbiting probe, a high-resolution Earth observation system,to improve the Beidou navigation satellite test system and carrier rockets with large carrying capacity.”
The white paper says the country is aiming to building "world-class large space corporations" to provide a market-based mechanism of development.
The Chinese government will increase input to the space industry, and at the same time encourage the establishment of a diverse, multi-channel space funding system, so as to guarantee the sustainable and stable development of the space industry.
The official added that the project will mainly focused on economic and social benefiting ones, as the budget of the space activities is still limited, only about one tenth compared to the budget of the US.
