The Ministry of Health reports that from 10 Am Tuesday to 10 Am Wednesday, the Chinese mainland had 3,460 cases of SARS, with 166 of them new.
At a daily news briefing today, the ministry announced that Beijing has had 101 new cases of the illness of which 30 are those confirmed from suspected cases. This brings the capital's SARS caseload to 1440. 7 patients were discharged after recovery in the 24－hour period while 9 died. Shanxi Province has reported 34 new cases, Hebei Province 9 and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region 7. The number of SARS－hit provinces in China remains unchanged at 26.
