Mikhail Saakashvili issued an invitation to the opposition to lead a new commission to reform the constitution and electoral code. The president's concession to the opposition came after he held talks in Tbilisi with four of his fiercest opponents.
Saakashvili has repeatedly refused their key demand that he step down as president of the country. Law-maker Levan Ga-che-chi-lad-ze, a former presidential candidate, says he thinks protests will continue until Saakashvili agrees to resign.
Since April 9th, opposition protests have crippled the capital by blocking roads and entrances to government buildings.
