The two cases of A/H1N1 flu in Taiwan have finally been diagnosed as a common flu. Earlier, local health authorities said they were ninety-percent sure that a mother and her daughter were infected with the A/H1N1 virus.

The prevention and quarantine level was then raised to level one, placing the whole island on high alert.

The final tests for the mother and daughter came out early Monday morning, showing the virus they contracted is H3 instead of H1N1.

The results were a welcomed relief to people on the island. Following the diagnosis, local authorities returned the prevention and quarantine level back to level two.

The 39-year-old mother and her baby girl of nearly two years old returned to Taiwan from the United States via Tokyo on May 5th. Both felt unwell the next day.

Their family drove them to local hospitals three times within the next three days.

Local health authorities then put them in quarantine in the Taipei Heping Hospital, and put nine others under medical observation.

Chief of Taiwan's health department, Yeh Ching-chuan told the media that the mother and daughter probably had contracted A/H1N1 flu.

The prevention and quarantine level was then raised to level one, placing the whole island on high alert.

Fortunately, a more accurate test early Monday morning showed the two were not carrying the A/H1N1 virus.

The other nine who were under medical observation were immediately released.
