Sri Lankan military: Rebel spokesman dead

COLOMBO, May 11 (Xinhua) -- A senior rebel who had acted as the spokesman for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) had died in a fighting, the Sri Lankan military said here Monday.
Rasiah Ilanthirayan, also known as marshal, had succumbed to injuries in the Mullaithivu district on Sunday.
The military on Sunday announced the death of another senior rebel, Chellian.
The military now on the verge of crushing the LTTE rebellion for the first time in 30 years are on the lookout for senior rebels in a tiny patch of coastal land of just 3 sq km.
The LTTE top 3, leader Velupillai Prabakaran, intelligence chief Pottu Amman and sea Tiger wing chief Soosai are still on the run.
