The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the A/H1N1 virus is in most parts of the country. |
As of Saturday, the CDC reported over 22-hundred confirmed U.S. cases of the virus. That's up from 0ne-thousand, six-hundred and thirty nine cases reported on the previous day. Dr. Anne Schuchat from the CDC says there are nearly three-thousand probable and confirmed cases in the country. She says one of the big challenges with the influenza viruses is the way it is able to change and combine with other strains.
The CDC notes that more Americans are seeing doctors for influenza-like illnesses at a time of year when flu-like visits are usually on the decline.
But tests show that many of those with symptoms do NOT have the A/H1N1 virus. And instead, have seasonal flu... or even other infections.
