Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 fluCountries around the world have updated their tally of confirmed human cases of the A-H1-N1 flu. As of 9 am Beijing time on Sunday, there were over four thousand three hundred confirmed cases world wide.
The number increased by nearly one thousand over the previous 24 hours. So far, a total of 52 people have died from the flu. While, in Costa Rica, a 53-year-old man died of the virus on Saturday, making it the first death related to the flu outside North America. Japan, Australia and Argentina have all found their first confirmed cases. The Norwegian health authority says the country now has its first two confirmed cases, both of whom recently returned from Mexico. They have both since recovered. Nine new cases have been confirmed in Britain, bringing the total number in the country to 48.
The World Health Organization has confirmed a total of 3436 human infections of the virus. The W-H-O's tally of confirmed cases has lagged behind those of individual countries because it has to wait for formal notification from the affected nation.
