China, EU vow to improve partnership, fight trade protectionism

Special Report: EU-China HEDThe China-EU Economic and Trade Dialogue has concluded in Brussels, Belgium. At a joint press conference after the two-day session, both sides said they oppose trade protectionism and vowed to improve their partnership.

The EU Trade Commissioner, Chatherine Ashton, described the talks as "inspirational." She said the discussions covered issues of open trade, customs cooperation and intellectual property rights.
Vice Chinese Premier, Wang Qishan, said both sides have committed to "trade liberalization," and would be involved in one another's economic recovery. He also said the two sides will implement consensus reached at the G20 Summit and work to reverse the economic downturn.
