Ghanaian acting president meets with senior CPC official on bilateral ties

LAGOS, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Ghana's acting President John Mahama on Thursday met with Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and discussed bilateral ties between the two countries and parties.

During the meeting held in the Ghanaian capital of Accra, Wang conveyed the warm greetings of Chinese President Hu Jintao and Vice President Xi Jinping to President John Atta-Mills and Mahama. On behalf of Atta-Mills, Mahma expressed appreciation and conveyed sincere greetings to the Chinese leaders.

Wang said that recent years have witnessed a smooth development in bilateral ties, with frequent exchanges of high level visits, enhanced political trust and fruitful bilateral cooperation.

Wang said China is ready to make unremitting joint efforts with Ghana to further strengthen bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation.

For his part, Mahama said the two countries have a long history of friendship and Ghana is satisfied with bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
