Special Report:   World tackles A/H1N1 flu

The World Health Organization says the virus has been discovered in 24 countries and regions across the globe. Poland is the latest country added to the list.

The total number of confirmed human infections now stands at twenty five hundred and 22, including 46 deaths. The center of the outbreak -- Mexico -- has reported 44 deaths, and twelve hundred and four confirmed cases of infection. The United States has reported two deaths on its soil, with 896 others infected. Other hard-hit countries include Canada, with 201 confirmed infections, Spain with 88, and Britain with 34. Many other countries also added new cases on Thursday, with a total of 10 in France, 9 in Germany, 6 in New Zealand, 5 in Israel and 3 in South Korea. The Netherlands also confirmed its second case of the flu.

Eleven other countries and regions have 1 confirmed case. They are: Colombia, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Austria, Denmark, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Ireland, Poland, Portugal and Sweden.
