The World Health Organization says the virus has been discovered in 23 countries and regions across the globe. Sweden is the latest country added to the list.
The total number of confirmed human infections now stands at one-thousand 896, including 31 deaths. The center of the outbreak - Mexico - has reported 29 deaths, with 913 others infected.
The United States has reported two deaths on its soil, with 640 others infected.
Other hard-hit countries include Canada, with 165 confirmed infections, Spain, with 73 and Britain, with 28. Israel and South Korea added new cases on Thursday, with a total of 6 and 3 respectively.
