Special Report:   World tackles A/H1N1 flu

-- 21 countries have now reported 1,085 confirmed cases of the A/H1-N1 FLU virus to the World Health Organization. But the WHO says the number is constantly changing. The largest numbers of cases are still in North America, notably Mexico with 590 cases and the United States with 286. Those cases include 26 deaths. Other governments have reported confirmed cases, but no deaths.

-- Israeli President Shimon Peres has reiterated the new Israeli government's commitment to the peace process in the Middle East. He made the remarks during a speech in Washington on Monday. Peres is set to meet US president Barack Obama during his visit. Peres has long supported the establishment of a Palestinian state as part of a peace deal. The US and the Arab world also regard the two-state solution as the key to lasting peace in the region.

-- South Africa has eased travel restrictions on Zimbabweans, allowing them to enter the country for 90 days and apply for casual work during their stay. The policy aims to reduce waves of asylum seekers flooding into South Africa from neighboring Zimbabwe. Eight thousand impoverished Zimbabweans apply for asylum in South Africa every day.
