Chinese Premier Wen visits workers on May Day

May the first marked International Labor Day. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao took the opportunity to visit workers at a Beijing subway construction site to wish them well for the May Day holiday.

Premier Wen Jiabao went to the Line 9 construction site, where he was briefed about the workers' life and work. Most of the workers are migrants, which has become a major part of China's labor force.
Premier Wen thanked them for their hard work. He told them the government is taking measures to strengthen training and help create more job opportunities. He said an insurance system for migrant workers is being set up and the government will continue making it better.
At the worker's residential area, Wen Jiabao asked the cooks to ensure the food is clean and healthy. He encouraged workers to be confident in the government's ability to cope with the financial crisis.
Premier Wen said, "We believe that with strong confidence, under the leadership of the party and the government, with correct policies and government measures, and with hard work of all Chinese people, we can overcome any difficulties. "
Wen Jiabao said this year is a tough year for the country, but joint efforts from the whole nation will make things better.
