On the Shanghai Expo, a new type of exhibition, called the "The Urban Best Practices Area", will give cities from around the world a chance to show how they're improving the quality of life back home.

This ecological building is located in southwestern Shanghai. The green house is a "zero energy consumption" building. It's powered entirely by large solar panels on top of the roof.
The house will be rebuilt on the site for Expo 2010. "Eco-house in Shanghai" is the city's project for the Urban Best Practices Area and will showcase its energy efficiency concept.
Wang Wei, Chief engineer of Shanghai Institute of Architectural Science, said, "The Shanghai-Eco house will be better developed than the original one. We will take advantage of more environment-friendly and energy-saving technologies. For example, the elevator in the house is energy efficient. And all the walls are made from recycled solid rubbish."
