DPRK: Russia against sanctions

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea says Russia is against the UN sanction on Pyongyang. The DPRK's foreign ministry made the remarks Friday after visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with his DPRK counterpart Pak Ui Chun.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations and the situation on the Korean peninsula following a UN Security Council's presidential statement. The DPRK's Foreign Ministry said both sides agreed that a satellite launch was a sovereign right of each country.

Lavrov left Pyongyang for Seoul on Friday. The UN Security Council issued a presidential statement condemning the DPRK's rocket launch on April 5th and saying it would adjust sanctions by the end of April. Pyongyang subsequently announced it was quitting the six-party talks and would restart nuclear facilities in protest over the UN statement. It also expelled observers of the IAEA.
