Chinese premier meets world leaders on sidelines of Boao Forum

Special Report: Boao Forum for Asia 2009Premier Wen Jiabao met on Friday with several leaders of Asian countries on the sidelines of the Boao Forum. Wen Jiabao discussed bilateral relations, and pledged to work with the participants at the Boao Forum in overcoming the current financial crisis.
In talks with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardar, Wen Jiabao said consolidation and development of China-Pakistan relations are a priority of the Chinese foreign policy. China is ready to offer help with stability and development in Pakistan, and also welcomes the international community's constructive role in this regard.
The Chinese Premier called on both countries to jointly implement large-scale energy and transportation projects, and explore new ways to expand bilateral cooperation and bring more benefits to the two peoples.
Zardari said China was a sincere friend of Pakistan, and his country is devoted to promoting friendly relations with China. In coping with the challenges of the global financial crisis, Zardari said Pakistan hoped the two sides would increase economic, trade, finance and security cooperation. He added that Pakistan is maintaining coordination with China in regional affairs.
When meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Wen Jiabao said China would like to work together with Vietnam to strengthen planning of future economic and trade cooperation and maintain growth of two-way trade. With regard to the South China Sea issue, which is the last issue the remains unresolved between the two countries, Wen Jiabao said the two sides should keep focused on long-term interests and the overall situation, actively safeguarding stability of the area.
During the meeting with Iran's first vice president Parviz Davoodi, Wen Jiabao said developing friendship and cooperation with Iran is conducive to the fundamental interests of both countries and world peace and development. China respects Iran's nuclear program for peaceful purpose, resolutely safeguards the international non-proliferation system and advocates that the Iranian nuclear issue should be peacefully resolved through negotiation. He also called on relevant parties to restart the negotiations as soon as possible.
When meeting with his Myanmar counterpart, Thein Sein, Permier Wen Jiabao called for closer bilateral cooperation in the areas of energy and transportation network construction. Wen Jiabao said China supports Myanmar's sustainable development, and is committed to helping the country to get over the global financial crisis. He added China sincerely hopes for Myanmar's political stability, economic development and national reconciliation.
At the meeting with Mongolian Prime Minister Sanj Bayar, Wen Jiabao said China will use the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties with Mongolia as an opportunity to boost the bilateral relationship to a new high. He said the two countries should give priority to cooperation on infrastructure construction and mineral resources exploitation, and advance financial cooperation.
When meeting with Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Wen Jiabao put forward a four-point proposal on enhancing bilateral cooperation. He said the two sides should take effective measures to maintain the growth of bilateral trade, fulfill previous agreements and give priority to cooperation in energy and resources sectors, reinforce financial and investment cooperation to ensure smooth implementation of major cooperation projects, and promote cooperation in the non-resources field such as infrastructures, so as to forge a more dynamic bilateral trade relations.

SANYA, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met here Friday with Parviz Davoodi, first vice president of Iran, in south China's Hainan Province.
