PYONGYANG, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The top legislator of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Friday met here with a senior Chinese advisor and discussed efforts to boost DPRK-China relations.

DPRK-China ties have been in good shape under the leadership of the DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Il and Chinese President Hu Jintao, said Kim Yong Nam.

Kim said he believed their friendship would be strengthened and expanded this year, which marks the 60th anniversary of DPRK-China diplomatic ties and the first "Friendship Year" between the two countries.

The China-DPRK friendship has been mutually cherished by their two peoples, said Li Jinhua, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

The CPPCC will continue strengthening cooperation with the DPRK Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland, and contribute to the development of the bilateral ties between the two countries, he said.

Li arrived at Pyongyang on Monday with a CPPCC delegation. He departed for home Friday.
