DPRK citizens support Kim´s re-election

Tens of thousands of people have rallied in the DPRK's capital, Pyongyang, to show support for their government. Around 100-thousand Pyongyang residents filled the central Kim Il-Sung Square in a rally welcoming Thursday's re-election of Kim Jong-Il as the country's leader.

On the same day, a new session of the DPRK's Supreme People's Assembly re-elected Kim for a third term as Chairman of the National Defense Commission, the country's highest authority. Kim Jong-Il also holds two other positions - General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army. Kim Jong-Il has been the country's leader since his father's death in 1994.
