Search continues for quake survivors

Rescuers have searched through the night for survivors of that earthquake in Italy which leaves thousands of homeless huddled in tents and rough shelters. Meanwhile, they continue to pull bodies out of the rubble.

Rescuers have searched through the night for survivors of  that earthquake in Italy which leaves thousands of homeless huddled in tents and rough shelters.

People in L'Aquila began to gather in tent cities on Monday evening after having lost their homes or being too afraid to sleep.

Aftershocks rattled the area throughout the day.

Residents and rescue workers hauled away debris by hand or in an assembly line.

Firefighter Domenico Di Dartolomeo"We managed to dig with our own hands until we finally reached this girl who was calling us. She said that her name was Francesca, that she was 21 years old, that luckily she could move her hands, so we spoke to her through, and that gave us the enthusiasm we needed to bring about her successful rescue."
