A delegation of China's lawmaking body, the National People's Congress, or NPC, has exchanged views with American academics during its regular exchange meeting with the US Senate. The delegation is led by Li Zhaoxing, former Chinese Foreign Minister, and now director of the NPC Standing Committee's Foreign Affairs Committee. Li says parliamentary exchanges between the two countries are very helpful for boosting bilateral ties.
At Tuesday's meeting with American academics, Li Zhaoxing said friendly cooperation between China and the US is significant for world peace and development, especially amid the context of the global economic downturn. |
At Tuesday's meeting with American academics, Li Zhaoxing said friendly cooperation between China and the US is significant for world peace and development, especially amid the context of the global economic downturn.
He said the parliamentary exchanges help enhance mutual understanding between the two countries' lawmakers, and push forward their coordination in various fields.
American academics agreed with Li's comments and praised China's actions to boost Sino-US relations.
