Obama confident in economy, recovery plan

US President Barack Obama says more difficult times are still ahead. But he's confident an economic recovery will follow. Meanwhile, his top economic adviser is warning against the dangers of excess fear. The remarks came as the US stock market registered its best week since last November.

President Barack Obama told reporters at the White House that the days of overheated housing markets and maxed-out credit cards are over.

Barack Obama said, "But we are providing help along the way. But if we are keeping focused on all the fundamentally sound aspects of our economy; all the outstanding companies, workers, all the innovation and dynamism in the economy, then we are going to get through this and I am very confident about that."
