Tibetan official: Oppose "Tibet Independence" through development

A senior Tibetan official says the fundamental key in opposing "Tibet Independence" is speeding up development in the region.

Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Regional government, Qiangba Puncog... made the remark in response to incessant attempts by the Dalai Clique and Tibet Independence forces to destroy stability in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Regional government, Qiangba Puncog says the  fundamental key in opposing "Tibet  Independence" is speeding up development  in the region.

Qiangba Puncog attended a signing ceremony in Beijing to mark an agreement to establish a Tibet Institute for Nationalities.

He was in Beijing for more than a week to participate in this year's session of the National People's Congress, which ended on Friday.

The chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Regional government stressed that the riots in Lhasa one year ago inflicted damage on the region's economic and social development.

During the past year, the regional government has adopted a series of measures to boost the economy and revive tourism.

And some of the positive effects have already been seen.
