US President, Chinese FM stress positive bilateral ties

The White House says both sides emphasized their mutual desire to build a positive and constructive relationship. Obama also stressed the importance of raising the level and frequency of U.S.-China military-to-military dialogue in order to avoid future incidents.
On the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, President Obama expressed his appreciation for the important role China has played as chair of the Six-Party talks. The two sides also agreed that China and the United States must work closely and urgently on the global financial crisis to stabilize the global economy.

Foreign minister Yang is in US on a five-day working visit. He says the most important purpose of his visit is to make preparations for the meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and President Obama in London in early April. This will be the first summit between the two heads of state.
