National consultation in Madagascar cancelled

ANTANANARIVO, March 11 (Xinhua) - The scheduled three-day national consultation intended to find a peaceful solution to the current political crisis in Madagascar was cancelled, the influential Christian Council of Churches in Madagascar announced here on Wednesday evening.

Earlier, one of the opposition leaders said at an anti-government gathering that the opposition decided to boycott the national consultation, planned to begin on Thursday, because "climate is not calm" for such a meeting and that the Christian churches Council "is not credible" to organize this kind of consultation.
