Top legislator Wu Bangguo attended a discussion among Communist Party members. He urged them to focus more on problems faced by the people. In the discussion with economic and agricultural sectors, Premier Wen Jiabao said the toughest problem China faces now is the financial crisis.
He said coping with the crisis requires government investment and investment from the whole of society. He stressed the importance of transparency in government spending and supervision by the people. Top political advisor Jia Qinglin met with religious groups. He praised their efforts over the past year. And he expressed hope that they would continue to lead their people to help push forward economic development and social stability.
