Chinese lawmakers are reviewing a draft law on food safety at the seventh session of the National People's Congress Standing Committee. It is the fourth time in three years that lawmakers have gathered together to review and revise it.

The draft law's first reading was in December 2007. That's when lawmakers first took aim at improving the "Food Safety Law" adopted in 1995.
