Press salon looks at Tibet history

The China's Journalists Association has hosted a press salon on the history of the Tibet Autonomous Region. This was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tibet's democratic reform.

Experts on Tibetology explained the background for establishing Tibet Emancipation Day, to commemorate the emancipation of millions of serfs and slaves. They explained the meaning of the ending of the feudal system in Tibet.
Over 70 overseas journalists attended Wednesday's salon, and discussed ethnic and religious issues, and life and education in the region.
