A NASA mission carrying a climate satellite into orbit failed on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when the satellite failed to separate from the rocket.

The 278 million US dollar Orbiting Carbon Observatory is NASA's first satellite dedicated to monitoring global carbon dioxide emissions. The rocket landed in the ocean near Antarctica.
